Orbinsky Lorely Rodriguez' voice is simply incredible. These songs are incredible, in their honesty and power and groove. I've listened to 'Me' so many times, it's perfect. Thank you for record. Favorite track: Water Water.

Illweevil Each track is an intriquing exploration of what catchy melodies Empress Of can create and what she can do with her voice. Favorite track: Standard.

Michael Keerdo-Dawson THE BEST ALBUM OF 2015! There are catchy albums and then there's this. On just one repeat listen all the tracks felt like old favourites and I could already remember what was coming next. Now I've listened to this album twenty times and I'm still not sick of it. I love how sexually candid it is,'there's nothing between us except a piece of latex'. Patriarchs may as well check out here, as Empress of has the gall to sing about orgasms or their absence. Breathlessly honest. Favorite track: How Do You Do It.

about

"...Empress Of is a pop project heads above the pack, a project not just to watch but to indulge in, to explore, to carry with you etched on the bone." — Pitchfork, 9/15

Produced, recorded and engineered entirely by Lorely over the course of 2014, the ten-track album plays out like diary entries; musing on the personal, the political, and everything that falls in-between.
